Field Time Ag was founded by brothers who bring complementary experience in agriculture, agronomy, engineering, and software development.
We are sixth-generation farmers whose family farm was established in 1873. We have spent our entire lives around agriculture, while our professional careers have taken us into agronomy, ag retail, engineering, software development, and education.
Our goal is simple: build practical technology around the realities of agricultural operations. Field Time Ag combines firsthand experience in the field with the engineering expertise needed to turn real-world challenges into reliable, useful software.
Matt Geiger is an agronomist, ag sales representative, farmer, and co-founder of Field Time Ag, bringing experience across production agriculture, ag retail, crop protection, sales, and agronomy.
Since 2018, Matt has worked closely with ag retailers and growers, developing firsthand insight into on-farm decision-making and the operational realities faced by agricultural businesses. Through his work in agricultural sales, he has consistently built strong customer relationships and helped drive profitable market growth through a results-oriented approach that combines technical expertise in crop protection and weed science with a deep understanding of grower needs.
Matt holds a master's degree in Weed Science from Southern Illinois University and brings a field-proven perspective to building technology solutions that are practical, relevant, and aligned with the way agricultural operations actually work. As CEO of Field Time Ag, he helps guide the company's vision by connecting the needs of growers, retailers, and agricultural technology partners.
Michael Geiger is an engineer, professor, farmer, and co-founder of Field Time Ag, bringing extensive experience in software engineering, technical leadership, engineering education, and agriculture.
He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, along with graduate studies in physics and education. His technical background spans software engineering, mathematics, algorithms, and physics—disciplines that support the models, calculations, and technology behind Field Time Ag.
Prior to co-founding Field Time Ag, Michael worked as a software engineer at The Boeing Company, developing real-time software and simulation systems. He later served as an Operational Flight Program (OFP) Captain, leading the development and execution of software programs across engineering teams, management, and external customers. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics and as the engineering program coordinator at Kaskaskia College.
As CTO, Michael leads the technical development of Field Time Ag, combining his engineering and software background with firsthand agricultural experience to build practical, reliable technology for growers and agricultural professionals.
The idea for Field Time Ag started with a simple question: Why can't we accurately predict when we'll finish a field?
On our family farm, the answer was often the one farmers know well: "It takes as long as it takes." We believed it didn't have to be that way. Field size, equipment capacity, operating speed, field geometry, and efficiency can all be measured and used to produce a much more useful estimate of when a job will actually be finished.
What began as a convenience tool revealed broader opportunities in agricultural logistics and decision-making—from coordinating equipment and employees to evaluating how changes in machinery or capacity could affect operations.
That led to a bigger question: How can better estimates of field completion times help agricultural operations make better decisions, improve logistics, and maximize profitability?
That question continues to drive the development of Field Time Ag.
One of the most important advantages we bring to Field Time Ag is that we are not developing agricultural software from a distance.
We can develop a feature in the office, take it directly to the field, and test it on our own farming operation. We have put Field Time Ag through extensive real-world use across multiple growing seasons, continually comparing its estimates with actual field performance and refining the software based on what we observe.
This creates a development process grounded in real farming conditions: build it, test it in the field, learn from the results, and make it better.
We have analyzed the many factors involved in operating agricultural equipment and have worked to account for the details that can affect field completion time. In our own testing, when operations proceed without unexpected interruptions or problems, the software has frequently estimated completion times within just a few minutes of the actual result.
Our goal is to build software that is accurate, intuitive, and easy to use. We believe powerful technology should make complex calculations simple for the people using it, allowing users to get accurate estimates in seconds.
